Best Bets NFL Week 13: Back on the Horse

Best Bets is back this week after a short Thanksgiving hiatus. I hope you all got in on the Thanksgiving Day teaser I tweeted out, which was a necessary bailout after my first-ever blanked week with an 0-4 showing in Week 11. This is the time of the season when the great teams are separated from the rest, and there’s typically a lot of money to be made this time of year, so that’s what I’m here to do. Let’s dig in:

TEN (-4.5) vs. CLE

ODDS: -110

We talked about this game on the podcast, and how much of a mismatch we believe this to be in favor of the Titans. They’re just simply playing better football right now, and should have no issue moving the ball on Cleveland’s average defense. The Browns are 1-5 against the spread in their past six games, and this one will be no different. Tennessee wins this one by multiple scores.

IND @ HOU O(50.5)

ODDS: -110

Despite having a stout defense, the Colts have found themselves in some high scoring games recently, and a game with the high-scoring Texans should be no different. The OVER in Colts games is 6-1 in their last seven and the Texans have scored 20 or more points in all but two of their games, with one of those having been due to horrendous weather. The line on this game has come down a bit due to Will Fuller being ruled out for the Texans, but I really don’t see it affecting the Texans offense drastically. This OVER should hit comfortably.

Teaser (6-pts): GB (-3), NE (+7.5), LV (-3)

ODDS: +150

The Packers get a cupcake of a matchup this weekend with a home game against an Eagles team that has been truly pitiful all year. The Eagles are 4-7 ATS this season, and the Packers are 7-4 ATS. Beyond that, Green Bay is about as healthy as they’ve been all year, and this is a prime spot for them to steamroll the Eagles.

The matchup between the Chargers & Patriots is one I have a lot of trouble predicting, but I am fairly confident that the game will be close, so I’m taking the Patriots plus a touchdown. Beyond that, Bill Belichick has been historically great against rookie QBs with a 19-4 record against such QBs when facing them for the first time. Justin Herbert has been outstanding this year, but Belichick’s defense will be a challenge for him. Add in the fact that Anthony Lynn is one of the league’s worst coaches when it comes to situational football, and I have a hard time seeing the Chargers win this one by more than a TD.

The Raiders are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Falcons, and are still in the thick of a playoff race, so they’re in a great spot for a bounce back. Their opponent? The New York Jets. LV (-3) might be the easiest wager I place all year.
